Our guests are at the center of our mission. Being a guest at Romero House
means you can come during our hospitality hours to seek support and
friendship. Whether someone needs a warm meal, laundry services, a shower,
or simply a welcoming community, they are invited to join us as a guest!
HOSPITALITY VOLUNTEER
Our Hospitality Volunteers are individuals with a deep passion for helping
those in need and a commitment to serving them directly. They play a vital
role in our organization by handling most of the service work. Each day they
volunteer, they engage in meaningful conversations with the guests we
support. Volunteers have the flexibility to choose their hours and days,
allowing them to work at their convenience!
TEAM VOLUNTEER
Our volunteers are dedicated individuals who aim to elevate their
commitment to service. They work on one of several essential teams: the
Mental Health Team, the Building and Grounds Team, the Development
Team, the Hospitality Team, and the Events Team. Each of these teams, along
with the volunteers who contribute their time, is crucial to the operation of
Ames Romero House.
FOOD VOLUNTEER
Our food volunteers play a vital role in providing the meals we serve for lunch
every day. Whether they contribute food once a week or once a month, our
organization could not function without them. They either donate the food
used to prepare the meals or help themselves to our pantry. Regardless of
how they contribute, they create the most delicious dishes.
COMMUNITY
We have a Broad Community of Support
MISSIONARY STAFF
Our Missionary Staff is made up of dedicated individuals who commit to
volunteering for a minimum of six months, with the possibility of extending
their service to two years. These volunteers live on-site and play a key role in
leading and managing other volunteers. They are responsible for maintaining
the house during non-hospitality hours and providing support to our guests
who are in the greatest need.
DONORS
Donors play a vital role in making our mission possible through their
generosity. With the ongoing support of our recurring donors and those who
contribute whenever they can, we can provide food and comfort to the
homeless and low-income populations in Ames. These generous individuals
are the primary reason we can maintain our services.
